Back in 2012, a national survey found that just 16% of respondents knew that “the cloud” referred to computer-related capabilities. Nearly a third, according to reporting by NBC, thought the phrase had something to do with the actual sky or was weather-related. Still others said “the cloud” was a reference to smoke, outer space, heaven, cyberspace, or a meeting locale, among other possibilities.
But by 2023, an impressive 94% of companies worldwide were using cloud computing services, including 44% of small businesses. Analysis by loudZero determined that by 2025, 63% of small business workloads will be hosted on the cloud, and 62% of small business data. The top reasons for this phenomenal rate of growth, according to Statista, include increased efficiency, enhanced security, remote accessibility, and easy maintenance.
